E-accessibility Status on the Global Level
The overall issue of persons with disabilities accessibility has received great attention in many countries around the world, especially after the international adoption of (CRPD). Many countries have introduced initiatives to spread awareness regarding the needs of this important group of society, in order to provide services and achieve the principles of inclusion, justice and equality. The diverse issues of digital accessibility had received significant share of this effort, motivated by the technological revolution mainly with the widespread of the Internet. Advances in mobile communications and smartphones with wide selection of programs and applications that helped facilitate services and access to information have very positive impact. Some countries, such as the United States of America and Europe, have a leading role in consolidating many principles of equality and participation for persons with disabilities, not only at the local level, but also at the international level. Other countries have taken concrete steps towards e-accessibility adoption and persons with disabilities inclusion as part of digital transformation while others are still lagging behind. Also, industry high-tech giants incorporated e-accessibility in the design of their products and services highlighted in this section.
